We return to the Catacombs for another exploration of Beethoven’s late string quartets. We invite you to join us for an unforgettable event as the Ariel Quartet performs String Quartet No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 131. Opening with what Richard Wagner described as “surely the saddest sentiment ever expressed in music,” this seven-movement masterpiece is played without pause, creating an expansive, kaleidoscopic musical journey through faith, fear, madness, wonder, and more.
ARCH by Kaleider (UK)
Set against the backdrop of Green-Wood’s historic landscape, ARCH is a powerful, open-air performance from the UK-based collective Kaleider. Conceived and directed by Seth Honnor, this meditative, large-scale work invites audiences to witness the construction of a freestanding arch—two-thirds concrete, one-third ice—accompanied by a choir of live singers from New York’s MasterVoices.
