Open Doors

One of Green-Wood’s most popular events returns with an afternoon exploring some of the Cemetery’s most impressive and elaborate nineteenth-century mausoleums with exquisite stained glass and some curious surprises. Peek inside the elaborate gates of these stately stone structures to view stunning examples of Green-Wood’s distinct architecture. At each location, docents will offer a glimpse into the lives of the personalities who now rest in these opulent edifices.

Please Note: This is a self-guided walking tour. Special maps with a recommended walking route are provided at check-in at Green-Wood’s main entrance (500 25th Street). Comfortable footwear is recommended as you will need to walk on hilly and at times uneven terrain. Check-in will be open 12–2pm.
Before Registering, Please Note:
- COVID-19 Policy: Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering, regardless of vaccine status, and follow instructions and guidance from Cemetery staff and ambassadors.
- Check-in: Contactless check-in will begin 15 minutes before your ticketed start time, by the Gothic Arch near the Main Entrance on Fifth Avenue and 25th Street. No paper or e-tickets will be necessary, attendees will be checked in by name.
- For Your Safety: Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear suitable footwear as this event will involve walking up hills or stairs, as well as grassy and uneven terrain.
