Future of the Funeral: Memorializing Loved Ones during COVID-19
February 11, 2021 , 6:00pm – 7:00pm
What can we glean from the grief of the great American military battles, the AIDS Epidemic, 9-11, and Sandy Hook that is applicable to these uncertain days of the novel coronavirus? A great deal, as it happens. While commemorative flags, quilts, wreaths, home altars, obituaries, grave markers, scrap books, and stories are as relevant as ever, technology has a greater role in loving remembrance and life story preservation. Also, even in winter, we are safely holding more funerals in the great outdoors. Join death educator and funeral director Amy Cunningham for a conversation on how to preserve the legacy of a loved one who has died during the COVID-19 period. From Zoom memorials to remembrances in public spaces, earth altars and more, we’ll explore how older customs merge with new possibilities.
Free. A Zoom link will be in your confirmation email upon registration.
