This page provides essential information regarding your ownership, voting eligibility, and how to manage your burial site.
A lot owner is an individual or individuals who hold the lawful right of interment in a burial site at The Green-Wood Cemetery, including a private lot, single grave, community mausoleum crypt, niche, lawn niche, or urn site. This ownership confers the right to use the space for burial purposes and, where applicable, to participate in certain governance matters, subject to the Cemetery’s Rules and Regulations and applicable New York law.

- Only verified lot owners may vote at the Annual Meeting.
- Each lot is entitled to one vote, and where there are multiple owners, a single representative must be designated
Annual Meeting of Lot Owners
The Annual Meeting of Lot Owners will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
If you are a lot owner* and would like to attend, please contact the Lot Holder Relations Office at title@green-wood.com to register and receive additional information. Please include your name, address, lot and grave number (or crypt, niche, burial site number), and daytime phone number. If you do not know your lot number, please provide the name of a person interred in the lot.
*Lot Owner: A person recorded in the Cemetery’s records as the owner of burial rights in a grave, lot, niche, crypt, or other interment space.
Key Information
- Lot ownership provides the right of interment in a burial space and is subject to Cemetery rules and New York law.
- Ownership records must be current before interments or monument work on the lot.
