Visiting Hours:

Our main entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th street is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM seven days a week, with extended hours in the summer.

The entrance at Fourth Avenue and 35th street is open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM seven days a week. Entrances at Fort Hamilton Parkway and on Prospect Park West are open 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekends only. (Entrances may be closed due to inclement weather.)

Free maps of the Cemetery are available at all entrances and in the main office.

Green-Wood Cemetery is an active and working cemetery. Please be respectful of funeral services and those visiting loved ones.

Photography is permitted. Please ask for a copy of our Photography Policy at our main entrance. Professional photography, including use of lights, stands or other equipment, as well as publishing of any photographs taken at Green-Wood, requires written consent of The Green-Wood Cemetery.

Filming and videotaping are strictly prohibited without advance permission and require written consent of The Green-Wood Cemetery.

Jogging and Bike Riding within the Cemetery is prohibited. Bike parking is available at all entrances.

Motorcycles are prohibited. Pets are not permitted on Cemetery grounds, with the exception of service animals.

Food, beverages, and alcoholic beverages are prohibited on Cemetery grounds (unless otherwise posted for special events).

Free parking is available. Please park all vehicles on the right-hand side of the road. Parking on the grass is prohibited.

The loud playing of radios and other sound-generating devices is prohibited.

The speed limit is 20 mph.

DIRECTIONS

From Lower Manhattan
Take Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and exit at Hamilton Avenue (immediately after toll plaza). Continue on Hamilton Avenue until it becomes Third Avenue and go about eight blocks to 25th Street. Turn left on 25th Street and go two blocks. Cemetery entrance is straight ahead at 5th Avenue and 25th Street.

From Long Island
Take Long Island Expressway west to the 48th Street exit to Brooklyn Queens Expressway south to the Hamilton Avenue exit. Continue on Hamilton Avenue until it becomes Third Avenue and go about eight blocks to 25th Street. Turn left on 25th Street and go two blocks. Cemetery entrance is straight ahead at 5th Avenue and 25th Street.

From JFK Airport Area
Take Belt Parkway west to Route 278, Gowanus Expressway to the 38th Street exit. At bottom of ramp, proceed straight one block to 5th Avenue. Turn left on 5th Avenue and continue 13 blocks to 25th Street. Cemetery entrance is on right.

From Verrazano Narrows Bridge
Take Route 278, Gowanus Expressway to the 38th Street exit. At bottom of ramp, proceed straight one block to 5th Avenue. Turn left at 5th Avenue and continue 13 blocks to 25th Street. Cemetery entrance is on right.

Via Subway
Take the R train to 25th Street Station. Walk east one block to Green-Wood at 5th Avenue and 25th Street.
