Tribute to World-Renowned Painter George Catlin

Please join us for a tribute to world-renowned painter and chronicler of Native Americans George Catlin (July 26, 1796 – December 23, 1872).

The Greeter,” a dramatic new bronze created by sculptor John Coleman and inspired by Catlin’s paintings, will also be unveiled.

Please arrive promptly to travel, via trolley, to the ceremony. A celebration of Catlin’s 216th birthday will follow in the historic chapel.

  • Linda Ferber, vice president, senior art historian, New-York Historical Society
  • Gwen Pier, Executive Director, National Sculpture Society
  • John Coleman, sculptor
  • Jeff Richman, Green-Wood historian
