Black Loyalist Virtual Tour
July 1st , 8:00am – August 30th , 5:00pm
Join Prospect Park Alliance for a virtual tour of the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre in Shelburne, Nova Scotia at Lefferts Historic House. Many Black Brooklynites worked for the British army during the American Revolution. Some gained freedom from enslavement by doing so. When the Americans won the war, these Black Loyalists feared the new nation would not respect their rights. So they evacuated to Nova Scotia in 1783. The Black Loyalist Heritage Centre interprets, safeguards, and promotes the history and heritage of the Black Loyalists. This special virtual tour of the Centre will be available during open hours at Lefferts.
