1 p.m. George Washington’s America: A Biography Through His Maps
Sunday, March 13, 2011
“Exquisite reproductions of the maps display 18th-century America as Washington saw it.“ —The New York Times
Friend of Green-Wood and best-selling author Barnet Schecter talks about his most recent and widely praised compendium of the maps George Washington both drew and purchased. The book crafts a unique portrait of the Father of Our Country. Following the book talk in Green-Wood’s Historic Chapel, Schecter and Green-Wood historian Jeff Richman will lead a tour of the Battle of Brooklyn. Washington’s first battle after the signing of the Declaration of Independence was fought, in part, across Green-Wood’s grounds.
Book talk: free. Reservations recommended. Reserve at 718.768.7300 or online here.
Trolley tour: $10 for members of the Green-Wood Historic Fund / $20 for non-members. Click here to purchase tickets online.
