Burdell newspaper article

Join NYC historian, author and raconteur Benjamin Feldman for a two-hour trolley tour to the gravesites of five long-forgotten permanent residents of Green-Wood Cemetery, notorious in their days. Hear the story of Dr. Harvey Burdell, a misogynist dentist in lower Manhattan whose gruesome murder in 1857 turned the town on end. Hear the unsavory history of Edward West “Daddy” Browning, a wealthy, Roaring Twenties man about town who bedded and wedded wannabe Cinderellas of tender ages. Visit the strangely separated graves of Henry Knight Dyer, president of the Dennison Paper Products Company in the late 19th century and his (mostly) beloved wife Caroline Lavinia Price Dyer.

$10 for Green-Wood Historic Fund members / $15 for non-members. Reservations strongly recommended. Click here to purchase tickets online.
