An Evening of Storytelling for Women and Fierce Allies of Women

“They wear cloaks and they carry candles, but there are no spells or potions. They create magic with words by telling stories.” -Los Angeles Magazine

Under a summer sky, lit by the full moon, join producer and performer Trish Nelson in a vow: “I am here tonight to pledge my support to my fellow sisters.” And then the storytelling begins! Nelson, who has put together live shows and tours across the country for Key & Peele, Broad City, Amy Schumer, and many others, brings her West Coast sensation, The Secret Society of the Sisterhood to Brooklyn. The theme of the evening is: “So…That Happened.” Prepare yourself for true tales that are sincerely heartfelt and often hilarious!

The all-star lineup for our first gathering includes:

AMBER TAMBLYN – Golden Globe nominated actress, critically acclaimed poet, and star of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

LORRI DAVIS – Writer, producer, activist, and partner of Damien Echols of the “West Memphis Three”.

AYANNA DOOKIE – Celebrated stand-up comedian and writer for 50 Central.

DHONIELLE CLAYTON – Co-founder of Cake Literary and New York Times Bestselling author of The Belles.

With music by KAKI KING – Award-winning composer, guitarist, and multimedia artist.
Featuring TREYA LAM playing a song from her debut album Good News.

Full moon dance party to follow with DJ TIKKA MASALA

Featured Visual Artists:
ADITI DAMLE
REBEKAH HARRIS – Silverella

Proceeds for May 29th’s Secret Society of The Sisterhood will go to Girls Write Now, a New York City organization that mentors underserved high school girls to find their voices through the power of writing and community.

This is the East Coast premiere of The Sisterhood, which began at the famous Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and always takes place on the night of a full moon. After three hit performances in LA, Nelson brings the evening of storytelling to Green-Wood, for some sisterhood, Brooklyn-style.

Doors open at 7PM, show starts at 8PM. Refreshments available for purchase.
