Spiritualists & Suffragettes

April 4, 2020 , 11:00am 1:00pm

19th century women portrait

Discover the connection between nineteenth-century Spiritualism and the Women’s Rights Movement in New York’s foremost Victorian-era cemetery, Green-Wood. With a focus on the evolution and legacy of Spiritualism, this trolley tour explores the era’s obsession with communing with the dead and explores how this spiritual curiosity operated hand in hand with the push for women’s equality. This tour is led by Andrea Janes, owner and founder of Boroughs of the Dead.
