DESCRIPTION:Including a Leonard Bernstein Centennial Celebration \nIt’s a NYC favorite – now in its twentieth year! Bring a blanket and enjoy this free early summer performance featuring the ISO Symphonic Band and Orchestra. Each year we feature the works of Green-Wood’s permanent residents like Fred Ebb\, Louis Moreau Gottschalk\, and Paul Jabara. This year’s concert will include a special program to celebrate the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein\, the famed composer and conductor of the New York Philharmonic\, who created timeless works such as West Side Story and On the Town\, among others.  \nThe concert is free thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle\, but RSVPS are recommended. Please make an optional donation with your reservation\, to help Green-Wood continue to offer these events free of charge. \nThis year\, the concert’s sponsor\, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle\, proudly telling the story of Brooklyn and New York to the world since 1841\, will have a table at the event\, where veterans and their families can tell their stories. \nAll events will take place rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:The Death Café is inspired by the centuries-old European salon (or café)\, an informal gathering to discuss philosophical\, political or scientific ideas. In 2011\, British entrepreneur Jon Underwood brought this concept to discussions of the most universal topic of all: death. Underwood’s intention was to provide an opportunity to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.” Today\, there are over 4\,400 Death Cafes in 26 countries around the world. \nGreen-Wood is proud to host monthly gatherings of the Death Café here in our beautiful\, modern chapel. Amy Cunningham\, death educator and creator of the Brooklyn-based blog TheInspiredFuneral.com\, invites participants to share their thoughts and feelings on death. It’s an opportunity for safe and open exchanges\, without an agenda. Tea and light snacks are provided. \n“A place for people to discuss our inevitable fate.” – Gothamist \n“It’s a reversal for American culture\, which for a long time has shied away from these conversations.” – Village Voice \n“[E]ncouraging people to talk about death more freely and naturally.” – Haaretz \nFree to attend\, RSVP recommended. Throughout the spring and summer\, Morbid Anatomy and Green-Wood will present a series of engaging and thought-provoking programs\, including a lecture on the historic origins of the Golem and a conversation with acclaimed artist Joe Coleman. \nJoin us on a beautiful spring evening for a special reception to celebrate Morbid Anatomy’s residency at Green-Wood. The event will include a tour of the newly installed Morbid Anatomy Library with creators Joanna Ebenstein and Laetitia Barbier\, as well as an opportunity to meet artists and collectors who contributed to the exhibition\, The Power of Images: Life\, Death\, and Rebirth. DESCRIPTION:The Death Café is inspired by the centuries-old European salon (or café)\, an informal gathering to discuss philosophical\, political or scientific ideas. In 2011\, British entrepreneur Jon Underwood brought this concept to discussions of the most universal topic of all: death. Underwood’s intention was to provide an opportunity to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.” Today\, there are over 4\,400 Death Cafes in 26 countries around the world. \nGreen-Wood is proud to host monthly gatherings of the Death Café here in our beautiful\, modern chapel. Amy Cunningham\, death educator and creator of the Brooklyn-based blog TheInspiredFuneral.com\, invites participants to share their thoughts and feelings on death. It’s an opportunity for safe and open exchanges\, without an agenda. DESCRIPTION:The Death Café is inspired by the centuries-old European salon (or café)\, an informal gathering to discuss philosophical\, political or scientific ideas. In 2011\, British entrepreneur Jon Underwood brought this concept to discussions of the most universal topic of all: death. Underwood’s intention was to provide an opportunity to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.” Today\, there are over 4\,400 Death Cafes in 26 countries around the world. \nGreen-Wood is proud to host monthly gatherings of the Death Café here in our beautiful\, modern chapel. Amy Cunningham\, death educator and creator of the Brooklyn-based blog TheInspiredFuneral.com\, invites participants to share their thoughts and feelings on death. It’s an opportunity for safe and open exchanges\, without an agenda. DESCRIPTION:The Death Café is inspired by the centuries-old European salon (or café)\, an informal gathering to discuss philosophical\, political or scientific ideas. In 2011\, British entrepreneur Jon Underwood brought this concept to discussions of the most universal topic of all: death. Underwood’s intention was to provide an opportunity to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their lives.” Today\, there are over 4\,400 Death Cafes in 26 countries around the world. \nGreen-Wood is proud to host monthly gatherings of the Death Café here in our beautiful\, modern chapel. Amy Cunningham\, death educator and creator of the Brooklyn-based blog TheInspiredFuneral.com\, invites participants to share their thoughts and feelings on death. It’s an opportunity for safe and open exchanges\, without an agenda.
