SUMMARY:6:30 p.m. Bushwick is Burning
DESCRIPTION:Last Wall\, June 1982\, by Meryl Meisler\n \nJonathan Mahler\, NY Times media reporter and author of the critically acclaimed Ladies and Gentlemen\, the Bronx is Burning\, moderates this panel exploring Bushwick’s 1970s nadir. Photographer Meryl Meisler\, a tenant lawyer\, FDNY fire marshal\, Community Board manager\, and displaced resident – will discuss their experiences on the frontlines of urban neglect. \nThis event appears as part of Brooklyn’s On Fire!: a partner series with Green-Wood and Brooklyn Historical Society dedicated to one of history’s hottest subjects – fire and firefighting. To reserve tickets\, click here. \nThis event takes place at the Brooklyn Historical Society.\n \n

SUMMARY:(Sold Out) 2 p.m. Brooklyn Backstory: Hot Diggity Dogs!
DESCRIPTION:This event is sold out. Please click here to return to our full calendar. \nTravel on our history trolley into Brooklyn’s storied past! When it comes to Brooklyn past and present\, there’s no better tag team than Green-Wood and the Brooklyn Historical Society. So let us take you on an exploratory trolley ride through some of Brooklyn’s most fun and fascinating subjects. \nThis fall\, we offer you Brooklyn Backstory: Hot Diggity Dogs! – an immersive look into America’s favorite ballpark snack. We’ll begin at Brooklyn Historical Society for a peek at some hot dog-related treasures from the archives (we promise we won’t show you a 100-year-old hotdog). Then hop on Green-Wood’s trolley with journalist Sarah Zorn – she knows all the best hot dog hot spots! You’ll motor around the borough and make stops at several modern hotdog purveyors for delicious samples. Then it’s back to Green-Wood for the crown jewel – a visit to the Charles Feltman mausoleum; He’s the man who had the stroke of hot dog-inventing genius way back when at Coney Island. Participants have the option of exiting the tour at Green-Wood or returning to Brooklyn Historical Society. \nBy the time you’re finished\, you’ll know more about Brooklyn than you ever thought you would (and you can skip dinner). \nThis event is presented in partnership with the Brooklyn Historical Society\n$45 for members of Green-Wood.\n$50 for non-members. \n$85 for two member tickets.\n$90 for two non-member tickets. \n(Inclement Weather Policy)
