SUMMARY:The Gallant Samuel Sims Talk and Tour
DESCRIPTION: \nGreen-Wood’s historian\, Jeff Richman – author of the recently published The Gallant Samuel Sims – will discuss the life of Brooklyn native and Civil War hero Captain Samuel Sims\, and how the collections of papers and objects that tell his story miraculously were saved from a trash can in California and an old trunk in New York and wound up at Green-Wood.  Afterward\, Richman will lead a trolley tour exploring the cemetery’s rich Civil War history–including a visit to Captain Sims’s grave.  \nThis event has two parts\, with separate tickets for each part: \n\nThe free talk in the historic Green-Wood chapel. Reservations below strongly recommended.\nA guided trolley tour immediately following the talk\, $20 for members of Green-Wood and BHS/$25 for non-members. \n\nThe publication of this book is made possible through a generous grant from the Furthermore foundation. \nGreen-Wood trolley tours are fully accessible and ADA compliant. In order to accommodate a wheelchair or other mobility device on the trolley\, advance arrangements must be made. Please call (718) 210-3080\, ext. 1.
