Juneteenth Community Legacy Project Family Activities

The kids are out of school, so bring them to Green-Wood to honor Juneteenth with free art-making activities and tours! In partnership with ASNEAA Community Legacy Project (CLP), families are invited to participate in Arts as Advocacy creative projects and visit the gravesites of Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) pioneers; in solidarity to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive future for ALL people.

CLP is a call to honor our ancestors and humanity, while promoting social justice advocacy at open spaces in NYC. At the Fort Hamilton Parkway Entrance to Green-Wood, CLP participants are invited to engage in Arts as Advocacy creative projects.

Visitors may walk a suggested self-guided tour route. Educators will be aboard our historic trolley, sharing about notable gravesites in the Cemetery. The trolley will be making continuous loops between 11:15am and 2:45pm, from the Fort Hamilton Parkway Entrance.

Before Registering, Please Note:

• Location: This program takes place at and near the Fort Hamilton Parkway Entrance to Green-Wood at Fort Hamilton Parkway and Micieli Place.
• Due to COVID-19, this program may be canceled. Registered attendees will be notified immediately of any changes.
• Attendees ages 3 and over MUST wear a face covering at all times on the trolley, regardless of vaccine status, and follow ALL instructions and guidance from Cemetery staff, ambassadors, and other program leaders. Green-Wood reserves the right to deny entry to anyone who refuses to comply with these guidelines, which are based on CDC, state, and city mandates. Participants must also wear a mask while clustered around activity tables. The trolley will loop through all activity sites for this program continuously. No tour content will be provided on the trolley itself. Participants must leave the trolley to experience the Arts as Advocacy activities at the gravesites and Fort Hamilton entrance. Seating is limited. Comfortable, closed-toe footwear is recommended. Green-Wood trolley tours are fully accessible and ADA compliant. In order to accommodate a wheelchair or other mobility aids on the trolley, arrangements must be made in advance by contacting education@green-wood.com.
• There are no paper or e-tickets, and registrants do not have to check in. Registration is helpful to give us an idea of participant numbers so that we may have enough materials on hand.
• Inclement weather policy: We monitor the weather throughout the day for the best chance of proceeding with the program and will not make a final decision until 8 am the day of the program. Registered attendees will be notified by email in case of cancellation. There is no rain date for this program.
