SUMMARY:U'ncuontru
DESCRIPTION:A film by Adrian Paci\n\n\n\n\n\nOn loop in the Historic Chapel April 1st–April 17th\, 10am–5pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdrian Paci’s U’ncuontru (2021) was inspired by the religious ritual of the ‘Madonna vasa vasa’\, which takes place every year on Easter Sunday in the Sicilian town of Modica and is attended by thousands of onlookers. After a long procession\, the statues of the risen Christ and of the Virgin Mary come together at midday where the traditional “vasata” (“kissing”) takes place\, a jubilant reuniting of mother and son.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFree and open to the public \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person Event(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 2021\, due to the pandemic\, the procession could not take place\, but Paci imagined a nocturnal and clandestine meeting taking place regardless of the restrictions. A meeting far from the daylight and lacking the enthusiastic participation of the crowd. A silent and intimate encounter between a mother and son—between a woman veiled in black who removes her cloak and embraces the risen Christ—despite the absence of applause\, revelry\, and music.  \n\n\n\nFrom April 1st through May 7th\, Paci’s solo exhibition\, The Wanderers\, will be on display at kaufmann repetto (55 Walker Street in Manhattan). The artist will be present for an opening reception on Friday\, April 1st\, 6–8pm.  \n\n\n\nFree and open to the public\, no reservations are necessary. Please consider a donation to The Green-Wood Historic Fund so that we can continue to offer free and low-cost programs throughout the year.

Green-Wood’s official birding checklist will be made available to all attendees\, or you can print it in advance here. \n\n\n\nAnd depending when you stop by\, you may see a variety of different species passing through: \n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: $20\, and $15 for members \n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWalking Tour(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEarly Spring Migration (April)\n\n\n\nOur April tours will be a feast for the ears and eyes with the trilling song of pine warblers and drumming pronouncements of woodpeckers on newly blossoming trees (including magnolias\, maples\, quinces\, and dogwoods). We’ll discover thousands of songbirds resting before their trip farther north as well as arriving herons and egrets at Green-Wood’s glacial ponds. \n\n\n\nPeak Spring Migration (May to mid-June)\n\n\n\nFrom ruby-throated hummingbirds to over twenty species of colorful wood warblers\, our peak migration tours will feature many of the 163 bird species that have been recorded at Green-Wood during the month of May. Beginning just after sunrise\, we will experience spring’s dawn chorus at the most active time of day for birds. \n\n\n\nSummer Birding (Late June to August)\n\n\n\nIn July we should see the offspring of our resident red-tailed hawk bravely preparing to leave the nest. Warbler songs will be replaced by chirring cicadas and the tweets of fledgling birds. Butterflies and dragonflies are abundant. By late-July\, expect the arrival of the first southbound migrants. \n\n\n\nBefore Purchasing Your Ticket\, Please Note:\n\n\n\nDue to COVID-19\, this tour may be canceled.
SUMMARY:Birding in Peace
DESCRIPTION:Before our gates open to the general public\, birding expert Rob Jett leads these peaceful early morning walking tours to discover the many birds that make Green-Wood their home—at least temporarily.
