SUMMARY:Birding in Peace
DESCRIPTION:Before our gates open to the general public\, birding expert Rob Jett leads these peaceful early morning walking tours to discover the many birds that call Green-Wood home. \n\n\n\nJust because it’s winter\, doesn’t mean that there aren’t interesting birds to discover in Green-Wood. For some bird species that migrate south after the breeding season\, Brooklyn is their Miami during the cold months. \n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: $20\, and $15 for members \n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWalking Tour(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\nSpend the early morning exploring the cemetery\, looking for overwintering waterfowl\, nuthatches\, woodpeckers\, sparrows\, finches and any half-hardy birds that decided to stick around. By February we’ll see some of the early north-bound birds beginning to trickle back into the area. \n\n\n\nAll walks are at a slow pace on easy to moderate terrain\, but proper\, closed toe footwear is suggested. \n\n\n\nPlease note that if only 1 ticket shows as available during the purchase process that is the last ticket available. \n\n\n\nBefore Purchasing A Ticket\, Please Note:\n\n\n\n\nAttendees must follow ALL instructions and guidance from Cemetery staff and ambassadors.\n\n\n\nTickets: There is no need to print tickets! Attendees will be checked in by name.\n\n\n\nWhere To Go: Check-in takes place at the meadow near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street (500 25th Street).\n\n\n\nFor Your Safety: We strongly encourage attendees to wear suitable footwear. The route includes several steep hills\, some stairs\, as well as grassy and uneven terrain. There is no place to sit down during the tour. Due to the challenging nature of the route\, this tour is not ADA compliant and is not recommended for children under the age of 10.\n\n\n\nA Little More About Safety: Unless it is a medical emergency\, it is not possible to leave during the tour. Please consider your own abilities–as well as those in your party–before purchasing tickets.\n\n\n\nRefunds and exchanges: Ticket sales are final. No exchanges or refunds unless the tour is canceled. If a rain date is scheduled\, tickets will be honored only on that date.\n\n\n\nInclement Weather Policy: We monitor the weather throughout the day for the best chance of proceeding with the tour\, and will not make a final decision until at least 3 hours before the start of the tour. SUMMARY:Commemorating the Boston Tea Party
DESCRIPTION:A Dedication at the Grave of Ebenezer Stevens\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn this date\, 250 years ago\, American colonists dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor in protest of taxes imposed by Great Britain. This act of defiance was a significant turning point that helped to trigger the American Revolution. In commemoration of what became known as the Boston Tea Party\, we will walk in a procession\, led by the Color Guard of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and accompanied by a drummer and a fifer\, from Green-Wood’s Main Entrance Arch to the grave of Ebenezer Stevens. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFree. No registration required. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person Event\n\n\n\n\n\nStevens was the only participant of the Boston Tea Party interred in New York City and commanded the triumphant Continental Artillery at the Revolutionary War Battles of Saratoga and Yorktown. In honor of Stevens’ bravery\, we will unveil a Boston Tea Party commemorative marker at his gravesite accompanied by music and musket volleys\, part of an initiative of The Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum and Revolution 360\, a consortium of organizations working together to commemorate the 250th anniversaries of the events that led to the American Revolution. We will also place a Patriot Medallion provided by the Sons of the American Revolution. Green-Wood Historian Jeff Richman will offer remarks on the life and legacy of Ebenezer Stevens and Historian Barnet Schecter will speak on the historical importance of the Boston Tea Party.  \n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary. Please meet at Green-Wood’s Gothic Arch (just inside the Main Entrance at 25th Street and Fifth Avenue.) \n\n\n\nImportant Information:\n\n\n\n\nWhere To Go: Meet at the Gothic Arch near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street (500 25th Street).\n\n\n\nFor Your Safety: We strongly encourage attendees to wear suitable footwear. The procession route covers about 2/3 of a mile\, with some uphill walking and no breaks.

Cancellations will be announced via Eventbrite email blasts\, so check your email and spam folders.\n\n\n\nFeeling Sick?
