SUMMARY:(Postponed) Members-Only Screening\, 'Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child'
DESCRIPTION:This event has been postponed. A new date will be announced shortly.\nPlus wine\, cheese\, and Q&A with the film’s producer and a special guest TBA.\n\nPoster for Jean Michel-Basquiat: The Radiant Child\nCentered on a rare interview that director and friend Tamra Davis shot with Basquiat over 20 years ago\, this definitive documentary chronicles the meteoric rise and fall of the young artist. In the crime-ridden NYC of the late 1970s\, he covered the city with the graffiti tag “SAMO.” Twenty-five years old at the height of his career\, Basquiat painted canvases that sell today for more than a million dollars. With compassion and psychological insight\, Davis details the mysteries that surround this young artist of enormous talent. Featuring interviews with Julian Schnabel\, Larry Gagosian\, Fab 5 Freddy\, Jeffrey Deitch and many more. Jean-Michel Basquiat is interred at Green-Wood and his gravestone is one of the most visited sites at the cemetery. \n$25 per person (includes wine and cheese) for Green-Wood Historic Fund members. Seating is limited. Reservations required. \nNot yet a member? Click here to become a member\, or call 718-210-3080. \nClick play below to watch a trailer for the documentary:

SUMMARY:6 p.m. Lincoln's Address to NYC in February 1861
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, February 19\, 2011\nOur friends at the National Park Service are hosting a great evening of history and politics. Retracing the exact travel itinerary of the newly-elected president\, one of the nation’s best-known Lincoln re-enactors\, Fritz Klein\, will recreate the speech Lincoln gave to New Yorkers on February 19\, 1861. Lincoln’s NYC appearance was just one of 83 towns and cities in five states where Lincoln addressed crowds en route to his inauguration in March. In the face of South Carolina’s secession two months earlier\, war seemed imminent and Lincoln’s resolve was already being put to the test. Q&A session follows the presentation. \nSpace is limited. Admission is free\, but reservations are required. Call (212) 260-1616 or click here for more information and to download an event flyer PDF.
