Summer sees young red-tailed hawks taking flight\, along with abundant butterflies and dragonflies. The early bird-er might get the worm\, but you can birdwatch at any hour. Join birding expert Rob Jett and a small group of fellow members to roam the grounds while hearing and seeing the many feathered friends of Green-Wood.   \n\n\n\nYou can expect to see different species on each tour. April brings blooming trees\, drumming woodpeckers\, migrating songbirds at rest\, and herons and egrets returning to Green-Wood’s glacial ponds. In May and June\, during peak migration\, you might spot ruby-throated hummingbirds or some of more than twenty species of vibrant wood warblers\, among other species. Summer sees young red-tailed hawks taking flight\, along with abundant butterflies and dragonflies. Get an “in-hive” look at the incredible behaviors of honeybees\, from colony workings to gathering nectar to producing honey. You’ll discover what it takes to be a beekeeper as you learn about hive tending and the ancient process of harvesting honey. Prepare to be amazed by these industrious creatures and the artistry and science of beekeeping!   \n\n\n\nProtective gear will be provided\, but this event may not be suitable for those with bee sting allergies. Participants will need to sign a safety and liability waiver at the start of the tour in order to participate. This event is intended for adults\, but kids 10 and up may attend with a legal guardian who can sign the waiver on the minor’s behalf.
