Visit with Green-Wood Historic Fund tour guide Ruth Edebohls the less-seen southern edge of the cemetery\, whose monuments and mausoleums have many fascinating stories to tell. Hear the stories of the Park Slope Plane Crash of 1960\, “Truth Seeker” D. M. Bennett\, a Russian prince\, gangsters Joey Gallo and Albert Anastasia\, lyricist Fred Ebb\, an early Richard Upjohn mausoleum\, several artists\, the generation-spanning Cutter family from a Civil War general to a 20th-century U.S. senator and more. A tourist attraction 150 years ago\, Green-Wood still has the power to draw us and keep us coming back with its beauty\, grandeur and history. Walk may be hilly and strenuous—wear good walking shoes. \nRuth Edebohls worked for the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment as its Coordinator of Urban Tours and as a tour guide for 15 years. A Brooklyn native\, she is a licensed New York City Tour Guide and urban historian with a special enthusiasm for Green-Wood Cemetery.
