SUMMARY:Signatures for Safekeeping: Preparing End-of-Life Documents
DESCRIPTION:Most of our decisions around end-of-life not only involve answering the big questions\, but also handling complex paperwork. This program offers practical and accessible guidance on the documents that help ensure our wishes are known (both for ourselves and others). The sessions will take care to break down what each document does and when it’s needed.   \n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: Free \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person Event(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\nKnow Before You Go:\n\n\n\n\nWhere To Go: This program will take place at The Green-House (750 Fifth Avenue)\, across the street from the Main Entrance of Green-Wood (500 25th Street). \n\n\n\nAccessibility & Safety: The Green-House is an ADA-compliant building; however\, extra accommodations for visitors using wheelchairs or other mobility aids are encouraged before reserving tickets. To contact our staff with any questions regarding accommodations and accessibility\, call 718-210-3080\, ext. 1\, or email events@green-wood.com.

SUMMARY:Grieving & Weaving
DESCRIPTION:Credit: Jordana Bermudez\n\n\n\n\n\nStitching together creativity and community\, this knitting and crocheting group is unique for one reason: it meets in a cemetery. SUMMARY:Mortal Matters
DESCRIPTION:Save the Date!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrief is deeply rooted in our shared human story. But mortality isn’t just a human experience; it’s woven into the fabric of the universe itself\, where stars are born and die\, and galaxies collide and dissolve. What happens on Earth happens in the cosmos\, too. \n\n\n\nMortal Matters is an invitation to sit with that truth. Through talks\, workshops\, and guided tours\, we’re weaving together three ways of understanding life’s end: the practice\, the science\, and the story. End-of-life and funeral professionals share what they know from the front lines of loss. Astrophysicists\, cultural anthropologists\, and forensic experts bring the evidence\, from black holes to mourning rituals to the anatomy of corpses. Artists and authors share their creative energies\, giving form to how we imagine and talk about endings. \n\n\n\nMortal Matters offers a rare chance to engage mortality on Earth and beyond it. \n\n\n\n\n\nA full lineup of speakers and registration will be available on August 21st. Follow us on Instagram or sign up for our emails to stay up-to-date!  \n\n\n\nThis festival is funded by  the Simons Foundation International and administered by the Simons Foundation’s Science\, Society & Culture division.
