SUMMARY:Notes of Tribute: Viewing the 9/11 Memorial Lights
DESCRIPTION:Green-Wood serves as the final resting place for over 100 people who lost their lives on September 11\, 2001 and in the years that followed. In their remembrance\, we will gather on one of Green-Wood’s hills overlooking the city skyline to witness the tribute lights over lower Manhattan.  \n\n\n\nOur program will include words of remembrance and a reading of the names of 9/11 victims memorialized at Green-Wood. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on\, three-part program that invites participants to explore the philosophy\, practice\, and artistry of natural burial.  \n\n\n\nOver the course of the afternoon\, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how we can care for our dead—and our planet—with intention\, simplicity\, and reverence. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: Free. Learn how green burial differs from conventional methods and why more individuals are opting for this natural return to the earth. This session is led by Amy Cunningham\, a licensed New York State Funeral Director and owner of Fitting Tribute Funeral Services. \n\n\n\nThe Art of Shrouding ( 3–4pm)  Learn traditional techniques for body shrouding with fabric and natural materials. This workshop explores the beauty and care involved in preparing a body for burial without embalming or synthetic barriers.\n\n\n\nCasket Weaving Demonstration (4-5pm) Get a feel for the artistry and symbolism behind hand-woven caskets as you try your hand at basic weaving techniques used in creating biodegradable coffins and burial vessels.
