SUMMARY:Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Credit: Jothan Cashero\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Death Cafe is a simple yet powerful idea: bring people together to openly discuss one of life’s greatest truths—death. With thousands of chapters in over 90 countries\, Death Cafes are informal gatherings designed to “increase awareness of death to help people make the most of their lives.” There’s no set agenda\, but conversations might explore topics like burial vs. cremation\, green burials\, planning funerals and celebrations of life\, or personal experiences with grief. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: Free. Registration required. \n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person Event(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us in the Cemetery’s Modern Chapel to share your thoughts\, hopes\, and questions in a safe\, welcoming space—over tea and pastries. \n\n\n\nFree. Registration required. Please consider a $10 donation to the Green-Wood Historic Fund so that we can continue to offer free and low-cost programs throughout the year. \n\n\n\nBEFORE RESERVING YOUR SPOT\, PLEASE NOTE:\n\n\n\n\nWhere to go: This program will take place at the Modern Chapel near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street (500 25th Street).\n\n\n\nThe Modern Chapel is not fully ADA Compliant. SUMMARY:Silent Book Club of Death
DESCRIPTION:Wouldn’t it be great to have a book club where you could just read and enjoy the company of other bibliophiles—without any homework? Silent Book Clubs are taking place across the country for friends and strangers to gather\, share what they’re learning between the pages\, and settle in for an hour of silent\, sustained reading. At the Silent Book Club of Death\, we do things a little differently—reading books that surround themes of grief\, loss\, and mortality. There are only three chapters in the entire country and Green-Wood is proud to serve as one of the New York chapters’ venues. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: Free. Registration required. \n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person Event(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\nBring your own book or borrow one from our library. We will mingle before setting the timer to read\, and once the hour’s up\, death doula and illustrator Lauren Seeleywill lead a group discussion on these universal\, yet challenging topics. \n\n\n\n*Participation in discussion is entirely optional—you can engage as much or as little as you feel comfortable. \n\n\n\nFree. Registration required. Please consider a $10 donation to the Green-Wood Historic Fund so that we can continue to offer free and low-cost programs throughout the year. \n\n\n\nBEFORE RESERVING YOUR SPOT\, PLEASE NOTE:\n\n\n\n\nWhere to go: Check-in will take place at the Modern Chapel near the Main Entrance at Fifth Avenue and 25th Street (500 25th Street).\n\n\n\nThe Modern Chapel is not fully ADA Compliant.
