SUMMARY:Exit Strategy: Community Days
DESCRIPTION:Green-Wood’s artist in residence Adam Tendler invites you to contribute to his upcoming installation Exit Strategy (opening June 2024). Exit Strategy is a site specific installation in Green-Wood’s Fort Hamilton Gatehouse that interrogates the complex relationship between grief and personal identity\, creating an immersive environment that meditates on how we attach ourselves to memories and physical objects\, and the possibilities for letting them go. The installation will incorporate content contributed by members of the Green-Wood community\, like you.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice: Free. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn-Person Event(see details below)\n\n\n\n\n\nThere are few ways to participate: \n\n\n\n\nAt the Cemetery: Visit the artist’s studio in the Fort Hamilton Gatehouse on March 30th\, April 27th\, or May 11th between 11:00 am–3:00 pm where you may: (1) write a reflection about someone you have lost or where you are in your  life (think  journal entry) and/or (2) contribute a memento belonging to a departed loved one (We recommend an article of clothing).* \n\n\n\nFrom Anywhere: Send a recording or voice memo of yourself sharing about people you have lost and/or your current emotional state to the email address exitstrategy@green-wood.com.* \n\n\n\n\nThese community days are presented as part of Green-Wood’s Death Education programming\, through which we aim to grow closer to death\, dying\, grief\, and loss in healthy and community-driven ways. As music is our universal language\, death is one of the great universal truths; we will come together to sit with both of them as we process our individual grief and participate in honoring our collective grief.  \n\n\n\n* All submitted materials will be incorporated into the artist’s work either visually or sonically\, and the final piece will open to the public in June. All submissions will be kept anonymous\, are final\, and cannot be returned. Materials will be destroyed or removed\, along with the artist’s work\, in a public ceremony that culminates the exhibit.  \n\n\n\nThe Fort Hamilton Gatehouse is located just inside Green-Wood’s Fort Hamilton Parkway Entrance (Fort Hamilton Parkway and Micieli Place). It is an approximately 10 minute walk from the Fort Hamilton F and G Train Station.
