A simple, clean and dignified process, cremation is more economical, space-efficient and environmentally friendly in comparison with traditional burial or entombment. Cremation has also become a very popular method of memorializing a loved one. The Cremation Association of America has reported an increase in cremations, up from 21 percent of deaths in 1996 to 33.5 percent in 2006. Cremation, the process of reducing human remains to bone fragments by heat and evaporation in preparation for memorialization, is accepted by many religions.
