Hours of Operation/Rules of the Cemetery

The Green-Wood Cemetery Hours of Operation and Rules of the Cemetery

Business Hours:

Administrative Office
Monday through Saturday from 8 AM - 5 PM
(closed Sundays and certain holidays )

Executive Office
Monday through Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM
(closed Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays)

Crematory Office
Monday through Saturday from 8 AM - 4 PM
(closed Sundays and holidays)

Sales Office
Monday through Friday from 8 AM - 4 PM - Saturdays by appointment only
(closed Sundays and holidays)


Visiting Hours:


The Cemetery is open to visitors daily weather permitting.

Main entrance at 5th Avenue & 25th Street: 8 AM - 5 PM daily
Maintenance entrance at 4th Avenue at 35th Street: 8 AM - 5 PM daily
Prospect Park West entrance: 8 AM - 4 PM Saturdays, Sundays and certain holidays. (Closed weekdays.)
Fort Hamilton Parkway entrance: 8 AM - 4 PM  Saturdays, Sundays and certain holidays. (Closed weekdays.)

Extended Summer Hours at Main Entrance:


From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day the Main entrance, 5th Avenue & 25th Street is open from 7 AM - 7 PM daily. All other entrances will remain on the winter schedule.

The first day of Daylight Savings Time to April 30: 7:45 AM - 6:00 PM
May 1 to the day before Memorial Day: 7:45 AM - 7:00 PM
Memorial Day to Labor Day: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
The day after Labor Day to September 30: 7:45 AM - 7:00 PM
October 1 to the last day of Daylight Savings Time: 7:45 AM - 6:00 PM

Hours of operation of all other entrances remain unchanged.

Rules of Green-Wood Cemetery:

  1. Green-Wood Cemetery is an active and working cemetery. Please be respectful of burials, cremations and those visiting loved ones.
  2. Photography is permitted at the discretion of the Cemetery security/officials and The Historic Fund officials. Professional photography (including any use of a lights, stands or other equipment) is not permitted without the written consent of the Cemetery.   4. Jogging and bike riding in the Cemetery grounds is prohibited. Bike parking is available at all entrances.
  5. Motorcycles are prohibited.
  6. Pets are not permitted on Cemetery grounds, with the exception of Service Animals.
  7. Food, beverages and alcoholic beverages are prohibited on Cemetery grounds unless otherwise posted for special events.
  8. The loud playing of radios and other sound generating devices is prohibited.

Vehicles:

  1. The speed limit is a maximum 20 MPH. Please consider driving at slower speeds and use caution while driving in the Cemetery do to the many winding roads, sharp turns and hills.
  2. Please park all vehicles on the right hand side of the road.
  3. Parking on the grass is prohibited.

 

Facilities:
Restroom facilities are located at all four entrances and at the Historic Chapel and Hillside Mausoleums.
