Blooming Into Winter

December 20th, 2012  |  Published in Green-Wood Historian Blog, Uncategorized

Winter starts tomorrow.

But perhaps our Bearded Irises haven’t gotten the memo.

This group of irises continues to bloom at Green-Wood's main entrance, on Fifth Avenue.

An iris variety called “Feed Back,” they are out there, to the right of Green-Wood’s main entrance gate as you enter, still blooming away.

These are rebloomers–their show in the spring is a bit less than most irises–but they rebloom in the fall–and it looks like, at least this year, into winter.

Bearded Iris Feed Back--still blooming.

It is a real treat to see them still blooming this late in the year!
