Snow Spectacular

February 15th, 2010  |  Published in Green-Wood Historian Blog  |  1 Comment

Well, that was quite a snow storm last week. The snow was deep across the cemetery. And it was spectacular! This was no ordinary storm. It blew snow across, piling up in its wake. Days later, you could tell which way the wind had blown–an icy snow covered one side of many monuments and tombs, creating accents and shadows. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get to Green-Wood until two days after the storm. But it was still wonderful across the grounds. I spent 6 hours, in three shifts, out photographing on Friday. It really was a great day. Here, as few of the highlights.

In many areas of the country, winters bring heavy snowfall and very cold temperatures. The heavy snow can block roads and cause power lines to fall down. Not at all times, snow is fun to play in.The horrible snow storm on the East Coast has left many people stranded, unable to get to work, and some have been left without power – they’re calling it Snowmageddon. It depends on the areas, but some people may be able to start telecommuting, if they have a job that allows it. A lot of people already do a fair amount of telecommuting, and if you already have a computer, phone, and internet set up you won’t need payday loans or anything to set it all up.
